Rowane Thomas Westergard, 84, passed away on May 9, 2017 at Our House Assisted Living in Tremonton, Utah. She was born on November 11, 1932 in Tremonton to Lynn B. & Bertha R. Thomas. Rowane attended and graduated from Bear River High School. She married Jay Dee Westergard in the Logan LDS Temple on September 12, 1951. He passed away on August 6, 2015.
Rowane worked at U& I Sugar Factory, was a Dance Teacher, Owner of Home Baazar, Reading Aid, Teachers Aid at McKinley, at Tremonton Drug and at the movie theater in Tremonton.
She enjoyed writing, painting, reading, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, skiing, dancing, camping, playing softball, spending time at the cabin and watching all sports for grandkids.
Throughout her life, Rowane was president of the Civic Club and president of the Fireman’s Auxiliary Group.
Rowane is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Primary Teacher, Relief Society ward and stake president and Camp Director.
She is survived by her children, Lyn Austin Maupin (Butch), Blair Westergard (Kelli), Autumn Rogers (Andy) and Shanna Westergard; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one sister, LaNette Huggins (Joe Dell); and one brother, L.D. Thomas (Syd).
Rowane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jay Dee; and son, Cole Westergard.
Funeral services for Rowane will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Viewings will be held on Friday evening, May 12, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral service on Saturday from 11-12:30 p.m. All services will be held at the Fielding Stake Center (4375 W. 15600 N.- Fielding, UT). Interment in the Garland Cemetery.
