Obituary

Sandra Faye Astle, age 69, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, in Brigham City, Utah. Born on January 30, 1957, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Robert E. Nelson and Gloria Nelson.

Sandy married Carlos Astle on June 4, 1976, in Logan, Utah. She spent her early childhood in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, before relocating to Garland, Utah, at the age of eight. A dedicated student, she graduated from Bear River High School in 1975. Pursuing her passion, Sandy attended cosmetology school in Brigham City, graduating in 1976, and achieved her Esthetician license in 1980. That same year, she became an Instructor of Cosmetology and taught at Beau La Reine Beauty College for four years.

Her professional journey began as a waitress at Mel Steven’s Café in Garland, but her entrepreneurial spirit soon led her to open her own hair salon business. She initially operated a single station at Jeppsen’s Gym, eventually expanding to three stations in her basement. In 1987, she purchased The Makeover salon and transformed it into Sandy’s Makeover Team in Tremonton, Utah, where she faithfully served clients for 10 years. She then moved to Sandy’s Salon where she continued serving clients until her retirement in 2021.

Sandy loved spending time outdoors, cherishing camping and 4-wheeling adventures with Carlos. She also enjoyed skiing, bowling, and playing softball. Her talents and dedication earned her recognition as Best Stylist by the Friends Chamber of Commerce, where she also served as President from 1987 to 1988. Sandy’s commitment to her employees was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for employing people with disabilities, presented by the Box Elder School District.

Beyond her professional achievements, Sandy was deeply committed to her community as a Young Women’s advisor, forming lifelong bonds with the young women she guided and supported.

Sandy is lovingly survived by her husband, Carlos Astle; her sister, Melanie Rees; eight nieces and nephews; and sixteen great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Alan Astle; her parents, Robert and Gloria Nelson; her brother, Alan Dale Nelson; and her sister, Sheila Rae Welch.

A private graveside service will be held to honor her memory.

The family extends special thanks to Shaun and Marcie Owens for their unwavering support throughout the years.

Sandy’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
