Sherry Lee Allred

July 20, 1949 — August 4, 2016

Sherry Lee Didericksen Allred, 67, passed away August 4, 2016 at the Bear River Care Center in Tremonton, Utah. She was born on July 20, 1949 in Brigham City, Utah to Lytle and Betty Lou Didericksen. She married Kenneth Allred and together they had two sons, Clayton and Erich. They later divorced.

Sherry was an artist and loved to oil paint. She played softball, coached soccer, and enjoyed camping, gardening and rock hounding. Sherry was always creating family with anyone who needed one. She loved animals, nature, exploring, ice cream, chocolate, her husband, her family and her grandchildren.

Mom was actively involved in scouting and achieved the Silver Beaver Award and she was a quarter master for Wood badge. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Sherry’s roots ran deep and wide, grounded in her faith, always trusting her Heavenly Father would supply her with nourishment. Her trunk was full of strength, humility and love. Her branches were always wide and open, always inviting others to come close where she could provide anything she had to offer. To some she provided the shade of friendship, always freely given with a giggle, a smile, a hug and always a reminder that you were always welcome to come back.

To others, Sherry provided shelter to those who had no place to go. She offered a safe place, free of judgement, but full of love and acceptance. To her children, Sherry provided nourishment and mentorship. She showed them how to grow a family, how to face their worst fears, what it is to trust and love unconditionally and how to depend on God. She taught them empathy and responsibility and how to show up for others.

No matter who you are or how you felt, Sherry considered you her family. She could be gentle and kind, but it was her attitude that still makes us smile. She could pull off anger really well. Mom reminds us of a badger with sharp claws, ready to defend herself or others to the death.

Most of all Sherry loved giving service to us all.

The shadow she cast was large. Today we all stand in reverence and gratitude for the service, blessings and friendship she has given each of us.

Sherry is survived by her ex-husband, Kenneth Allred; Sons, Clayton, Erich (Angela) Allred; Mother, Betty Lou Didericksen and 4 siblings, Jonette (George) Brulotte, Rick (Paula) Didericksen, Shane Didericksen, Shannon (Clark) Ellis.
