Sonya Marie Ayala, 50, passed away on October 13, 2018 in Brigham City, Utah. She was born on May 16, 1968 to Florentino Ayala Jr. and Gloria Serna, with Burdell Tipping as her step-father.
She has lived in Corinne and Brigham City. She attended and graduated from Box Elder High School.
Sonya was homemaker, but she has also worked at Autoliv, SOS Staffing, Wal-Mart, Royal Carpet Cleaning, and Bank of Utah in Ogden.
She loved collecting reading glasses, pens, purses, and jewelry. Most of all she loved her family and all the many get togethers. Sleepovers with cousins and grandkids were one of her favorite things. She also enjoyed golfing with friends and tailgating at Aggie games.
Sonya was a part of the St. Henry’s Catholic Church and the All Friends Golf Association.
She is survived by her life-time partner Scott Payne; children, Jaleesa Shelton (David) and Derek Shelton; Mother, Gloria Tipping; sister, Elena Ayala; brother, Damian Ayala; several step-siblings; and her four grandchildren, Morgan, Zoe, and Brynadi. Sonya’s only grandson, Cameron, was being brought into this world at the exact time of her passing.
Sonya is preceded in death by her father, Florentino Ayala Jr; and her step-father, Burdell Tipping.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Noon at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. Tremonton, UT). A viewing will be held prior from 10:30-11:30 am. Interment will be held at the Corinne Cemetery.
A special thanks to Mandi Cox, who was our rock and was always there to help. She will always be in our hearts and we will be forever grateful. The family would also like to thank Brittney Crossman at Brigham City Floral, Rocky Mountain Hospice team for their caring concern for her, and all friends and family members who showed her support and love through all her life and all her health trials at the end.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sonya Ayala Memorial Fund at the Bank of Utah.
