Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Susan Bowcutt Lish, peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by her family on July 10, 2026. She was born on July 26, 1943, to Clifford Bowcutt and Thelma Edna Cannon Bowcutt in Tremonton, Utah. She had a twin sister, Sandra, and 4 brothers; Errol, Mike, Scott and Hikey. She often talked about how much she adored her parents and siblings, and how terribly she missed Scott, as he left us early in the Vietnam War.
In her younger years, she lived in Ogden, Utah where she enjoyed spending time with her cousins. In 1950, her mother relocated the family to Tremonton, where they lived in the Historic Midland Hotel for a summer. She then lived in a beautiful home on north Tremont Street that she loved and talked about often.
At 16, she met the love of her life, Kent LaMar Lish, at a dance at Crystal Hot Springs. Both came with different people that night but left with each other knowing they were the “one”. They were married November 18th, 1960, and carried that love and devotion for over 66 years. They built a wholesome life together in Garland, Utah raising their 4 children, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
If you knew Susan, you would know her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was the most caring and accepting grandma you could ever ask for. She served her family daily with unconditional love and never turned down an opportunity to babysit! Her small and perfectly tidy home was the central gathering place for bbq’s, holidays and birthdays. She always managed to fit us all and we wouldn’t have it any other way. If she could do anything it would be having her grand babies in her arms at all times!
Susan was a graduate of Bear River High school and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed learning about her Mormon pioneer history and her ancestors. She had many talents and hobbies including singing soprano in the school choir, bowling, gardening, cooking and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She read and collected innumerous books and antiques but especially cherished her large collection of Pyrex. She lived for a great hair-do, shopping at the D.I., her daily crossword puzzle, rockhounding, and watching a good Jazz game. As she grew older and her body didn’t allow her to do many things, she enjoyed rides in the car, trips to Malad for lottery tickets and sorting and making creations with her jewelry.
She was always beautiful, happy, and the life of the party, even until her very last days! She will be greatly missed and we will never forget her enduring love she had for us all.
Susan is survived by her husband Kent Lish, her four children Marcy Perry, Mindy (Zan) Nelson, LeighAnn (Bud) Knell, and Justin Kent Lish. Her brothers Mike (Katie) Bowcutt and Hyrum “Hikey” Paetsch Jr., Sister Sandra Nelson (Rob) Broadhead, step brother Don Paetsch, step sister Susane Paetsch Nish, sisters-in-law Suzanne Bowcutt, Karen Lish Sill, and Cherre Chournos Lish, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Scott and Errol Bowcutt, brother-in-law Richard “Dick” Nelson, 21 brother and sisters-in-law on Kent’s side of the family, grandson Brendan Knell Shakur, granddaughter Lauren Perry and son-in-law Lyle G. Perry.
