Valerie Williams Call

September 3, 1958 — March 1, 2026

Bear River City

Valerie Williams Call, age 67, of Bear River City, Utah, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on March 1, 2026.

Valerie was born in California September 3, 1958. At the age of 11, she moved to Layton, Utah. She often said her favorite year as a child was second grade, which she spent in Utah with her grandparents — a time she cherished deeply.

Valerie graduated from Layton High School in 1977. In 1978, at the age of 19, she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At a young single adult activity, she met her eternal love Val Call. Eleven months later, they were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on November 30, 1979. Valerie lived in Layton until 1999 when she moved with her family to Bear River City.

Valerie was loved by many. She had a special gift for connecting with youth and grew close to many in her ward family. In the last few years of her life, the young men would often come into her home to bring her the sacrament. They frequently shared how they loved coming into the Call home because they felt the love and Spirit of Christ there. Many people learned what the true love of Christ felt like through Valerie's warmth, acceptance, and kindness. Countless individuals have said she made them feel welcome and loved at church.

She was a loving devoted wife, a patient and compassionate Mom to her four children, the absolute best Grandma, devoted and beloved sister, and a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Valerie knew how to be silly and had the best sense of humor. She was a true peacemaker.

Valerie had a special talent for crafting. She spent countless hours crocheting afghans, cross-stitching, making handmade cards, and creating photo books. She always had multiple projects in progress — lovingly made to give away to others.

She loved being outdoors and working in her yard, which was always known for its beauty and care. She also had a great love for music and liked to listen to it loud!

Her children have all said that their mom taught them what true love is. She continually showed deep love and devotion to her husband and family. Valerie's life was a beautiful example of Christlike love, service, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Valerie is survived by her loving husband, Val Call; her children, Melissa (Kolby) Tyler, Anson (Heidi) Call, David Call, and Susan (Justin) Hales; her siblings Curtis Williams, Robert Williams, Susan Scheppele, and Scott Williams; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and mother, Caryl Williams.

She was preceded in death by her Parents-in-law Robert and Shirley Call, and her grandparents, Glenden and Lola Jensen.
