William H. “Bill” Gibbs, age 81, passed away on September 28, 2026, in Ogden, Utah. Bill was born on May 23, 1945, in Brigham City, Utah, to William L. Gibbs and Maurine Hall Gibbs. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Portage with his parents and siblings and later lived in Hooper and Ogden, Utah.

Bill graduated from Bear River High School, where he participated in football and basketball. He spent more than 50 years as a farrier, owned the Ogden Vacuum store for over 20 years, and worked for several years as a bus driver. His passions included horse racing, chariot racing, hunting, and anything else he could do on a horse. Throughout his years of training racehorses and hunting, Bill formed many lasting friendships that he deeply treasured. He often reminisced about the wonderful times he shared with those friends, as well as the time he spent with his dad and brothers. Bill adored his grandchildren and spent hours visiting with them while shoeing their horses. He continued shoeing their horses until he was 75.

Bill is survived by his sons, Travis Gibbs and Matt (Sherry) Gibbs; his grandchildren, Reno (Chloe) Gibbs, Hailey Gibbs, and Brianna (Luke) Jones; his sister, Carol-Ann Petty; and his brothers, Sid (Leslie) Gibbs and Val Dee (Karen) Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; his brother, Bryan; and his sister, Sharon Green.

In accordance with Bill’s wishes, no public funeral service or viewing will be held.
