Diane Grant

October 20, 1931 — February 3, 2015

HOWELL/GARLAND- Diane Wise Grant passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 in North Ogden, Utah at her daughter’s home at age 83. She was born October 20, 1931 in Standardville, Carbon Co., Utah to Eugene M. Wise and Martha Boren Wise. The family moved to Ohio in 1934 and lived in Galion and Toledo before settling in Marion. She graduated from Harding High School in 1949. She worked at the local radio station, WMRN in Marion for 2 years before moving to Salt Lake City in 1951. There she was employed at the LDS Church Office as personal secretary to Gordon B. Hinckley in the Missionary Department for 5 years. She described those years as the greatest experience in her life.

She married Waldo (Wally) Grant of Howell, Utah June 4, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were sealed by President David O. McKay. They lived their entire lives in Howell where Wally was engaged in farming with his father. Diane and Wally served a mission together in Boston, Mass., 1989-1990 in the mission office.

Diane served in various organizations of the Church in both ward and stake callings and did name extraction work for 20 years. Wally passed away in 1998 after which Diane moved to Garland in 2003.

Surviving are 5 children: Brian (Stephanie) of Bend, OR; Todd (Rosella) of Springville, UT; Melanie Steen of Logan, UT; Greg Gordon of Howell, UT; and Lana (Bryan) Garfield of North Ogden, UT; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Boyd (Janice) Wise of Caldwell, ID and Gaye Wise of Boise, ID. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wally; her parents; a sister, Cheryl Lynn Wise; and grandsons, Brodie Grant and Brock Grant

Funeral Services will be held at the Howell LDS Chapel (16035 N. 17400 W.) on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Viewings will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. – Tremonton) and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Howell Cemetery.
